What started as an epidemic in 2019 has turned into a pandemic and is still running its course into2021. The coronavirus is not letting up. Moreover, the new strains that have been discovered in the UK and South Africa have ushered in a more infectious strain.

The UK has taken its stand to ban the entry of people from various countries of Africa, South America, and the Middle East. UK’s “red list” already has about 36 listed countries. It is adding Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, and the Philippines to its list.

Hence, from April 4, 2021, early morning no nationals from these countries shall be allowed to enter the UK. Residents of the UK and Ireland who shall return from the countries in the red list will have to agree to 10 days of quarantine in hotels. Cases have surged in other countries too including various European countries. These countries are being asked to be included in the red list too. However, the government has not taken a decision on it yet.
