The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on Tuesday arrested six people for allegedly altering the famous Hollywood sign to read as “Hollyboob.”
According to the reports, the prank was made on Monday afternoon in the Hollywood hills, when a group of six people covered the letters “W” and “D” to look like the letter “B”.
Participants told an officer they made the change to raise awareness of breast cancer said LAPD Sgt. Leonard Calderon. He said “They didn’t commit any permanent damage.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, five men and a woman were booked on suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing, but were later issued citations and released on their own recognizance.
According to Julia Rose, founder and CEO of adult magazine Shagmag, who was among the arrested, took credit for the prank and said it wasn’t just for laughs.
She said the sign was altered in order to grab the attention of Instagram head honcho Adam Mosseri. Instagram recently suspended both her personal and business pages because of nudity said Rose.
Talking to the Vice, Rose said “My product is nearly identical to that of Playboy’s, and my content may even be considered safer than what Playboy’s has been allowed to publish on your platform.” She also said that “I want to know how they are picking and choosing which accounts to disable and why.”
