Traffic in the central business district in Melbourne was brought to a standstill for two and a half hours. A group of unwavering vegan protestors clamored for the release of three sheep. The united group of demonstrators chained themselves in the middle of an intersection. The activists also locked arms in front of city’s sea aquarium. By holding up traffic and their activities allegedly hampered the commute of eleven tram lines. The group raised a furore over the poor animal farming conditions in Australia in view to promote veganism.
In the aftermath of the demonstration 39 protestors were arrested. The police attributed the reasons of arrest to unannounced protest and disruption to traffic in peak hours.
